So here's what to do in Brisbane
If you're planning to visit Brisbane, whether for work or play, Kangaroo Point is a great place to start your Brissie adventure. It's a 20 minute walk from Brisbane's centre or you can always catch a ride-share service or a scooter. I've got some fantastic suggestions outlining what you can do and all that Kangaroo Point has to offer. Firstly, let's get some of the boring stuff out of the way, the Kangaroo Point Cliffs are actually heritage listed. The cliffs were formed as a result of the rock quarried from the site which was used in the construction of a number of local structures.
If you're just in Brisbane for the day, maybe on a cruise and coming from the Brisbane Cruise Terminal, then Kangaroo Point Cliffs is a great place to start your adventure in Brisbane. Kangaroo Point Cliffs is a 25 minute share ride or taxi trip, (Google Maps route here) from the Brisbane Cruise Terminal. Spend a few hours exploring Kangaroo Cliffs then head around to South Bank Parklands for lunch in Little Stanley Street. Finish the day off by heading across the river into the City for some shopping before heading back to the Brisbane Cruise Terminal.
“Why not arrange a picnic at Kangaroo Point, the views across the Brisbane River to the Brisbane CBD are amazing, especially as the sun sets and the City lights come on.”
You can have a picnic catered for or bring your own, either option is guaranteed to be a memorable experience.
Enjoying a Picnic
There are numerous ideal spots along the lower river walk section of Kangaroo Point that are perfect for a river side picnic or just enjoying a drink or two with good company. Bring along a picnic blanket or find a bench to claim your spot. There are public BBQ if you're more interested in a few chops or a steak or why not just bring along a nice cheese and accompaniments. There are several undercover seating areas along the river walk where you can take in the city views. Most popular of these is the C.T. White Park Lookout, a lovely white pergola perched over the Brisbane River so you can watch the City cats as they pass by. If down by the river isn't your scene, then you can enjoy a night with friends along the cliff top. Views of the City are stunning and you can see from South Bank around to The Story Bridge. There are numerous public BBQ and seating areas for the perfect afternoon or evening.
If you're just in Brisbane for the day, and don't feel like bringing your own food along or if you'd prefer someone else do all the work, then you're in luck. South Bank Parklands is less than a 10 minute walk and there are countless restaurants willing to assist. I can recommend The Jetty, Stokehouse Q, Aquitaine or any number of excellent South Bank restaurants. A lot of these restaurants sell hampers for you to enjoy at the adjacent River Quay Green.
